Tom Shadden

Tom is a 58-year resident of Long Beach and a graduate of the School of Business Administration at CSULB, and completed graduate studies at the Wharton School. He retired as Senior Vice President of Morgan Stanley after 42 years in the Long Beach office. His son John is Managing Director, Wealth Management of the Shadden Group at Morgan Stanley.

He has long been active on many philanthropic boards in Long Beach, including his long affiliation with Long Beach Memorial Center and its Foundation, where he also serves as Director and Past President and current Director of the LBMMC Heart and Vascular Institute.

Tom served as Vice President of the Kiwanis Club of Long Beach and has been a member since 1968.

His love of sailing began when he joined the Long Beach Yacht Club in 1968 where he has served on many committees, including Chairman of the 1975 Congressional Cup and eventually became Commodore in 1980. Other activities include Director of the 1984 Sailing Olympics in Long Beach, and he was a founding member and past president of the Pacific Coast Sailing Foundation and the United States Sailing Center. He served on the Board of Governors for the Sea Festival of Long Beach.

His recent project as Chairman of the Aquatic Capital Committee that officially named Long Beach as the Aquatic Capital of America.
