Kevin Wattier

Kevin Wattier is General Manager of the Long Beach Water Department.  He was appointed by the Long Beach Board of Water Commissioners on June 1, 2001 and reports directly to them.

Mr. Wattier oversees the day to day operation and business activity of one of the most reliable and advanced municipal retail water agencies in the country. Mr. Wattier leads a team of over 230 water system professionals in regulating the sale, use, and distribution of water in the city of Long Beach, California's fifth largest city. The Department operates one of the largest groundwater treatment facilities in the United States.

Prior to joining the Long Beach Water Department, Mr. Wattier was a Principal at McGuire Environmental Consultants, where he also served as Executive Director of the California Urban Water Agencies, headquartered in Sacramento, California.

Mr. Wattier spent 13 years with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) from 1986 to 1999, including positions in MWD's Planning, Resources, Water Quality and Operations Divisions. In his last assignment at MWD, he served as Assistant Chief of Operations, responsible for the overall management of MWD's water treatment and distribution facilities throughout Southern California, the largest surface water treatment facilities in the country.

Mr. Wattier is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of California.  The California Department of Health Services has certified him as a Grade 5 Water Treatment Operator.

Mr. Wattier received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from South Dakota State University and a M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Clarkson University.
