Kathy Heddy-Drum

Grew up in New Jersey swimming for Coach Frank Elm and the Central Jersey Aquatic Club.  Made the USA National Team at 15 years old in 1973.  Won 7 USA National Championships, 6 World Championship medals including a gold medal in the 200 meter Individual Medley at the 1975 World Aquatic Championships in Cali Columbia.  Won 4 gold medals in the 1975 Pan American Games.  Made the 1976 Olympic Team where she competed in the 400 meter freestyle finishing 5th.   Voted the United States Olympic Committee’s  Athlete of the Year in 1975.  Committed to swim for U.C.L.A. in 1976.  Retired from the sport of swimming in 1978. Have been residing in Long Beach since 1978 and has two children, Lauren and Matthew.
