Gabriella Holt

Gabriella Holt has been a community leader on the Palos Verdes Peninsula for more than two decades.  Her passion for improving the world for the people around her is obvious.

As a Registered Nurse, Gabriella has extensive experience in emergency and intensive patient care, family support, and as a nurse educator.  This background has given her the opportunity to work in many other health care settings including managed care, hospital audits, and billing reviews.  She is a member of Los Angeles County’s Medical Reserve Corps Emergency System Hospital Surge Team.

Education has always been a passion for Gabriella. As mother of four adult children, she served for eight years on the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District.  She helped govern a school district with 11,500 students, 600 employees, and an annual budget of $79 million.  For five years, she served as an appointee on Assemblyman Alan Lowenthal’s Education Advisory Committee.  Holt also served on the Joint Powers Authority that governs the Southern California Regional Occupational Center.

Holt currently serves on the Los Angeles County Probation Commission as an appointee of 4th District Supervisor Don Knabe, a commission she has served on since her appointment in 2002. She also currently serves as a voting member on the Los Angeles Countywide Criminal Justice Coordination Committee.

Another of Gabriella’s passions is public television. She was the Station Manager of RPV TV Channel 33, a digital television channel and broadcast station for the City of Rancho Palos Verdes, for the past five years.  In this role, she helped mentor young people on becoming more involved in their community as well as helping local government become more accessible to the people of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

She also provides consulting services to communications, media and risk management companies.  She is a substitute teacher at the local ROC in Arts, Media and Entertainment.

Holt earned an undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of Michigan, an accounting credential from UCLA xt, and an Executive Juris Doctor in Health and Administrative Law from Concord Law School.  She is a registered nurse, holds a preliminary teaching credential in Career/Technical Education and has passed the California CPA exam.

Gabriella’s husband of 27 years, Dr. Ken Holt, a Gastroenterologist, has worked in healthcare for 30 years, and is in private practice with six other physicians.  They own and operate an outpatient Endoscopy Center in the South Bay.  Ken and Gabriella have four children, the youngest who graduated from Palos Verdes High School this past June, 2008.
