Mark Stevens

Mark Stevens was named Publisher & CEO of Long Beach Magazine in September 2007. Stevens was VP Strategic Planning & Development for the Los Angeles Newspaper Group and the Publisher & CEO of the Press-Telegram from February 2004 to February 2007. He is the former Publisher and CEO of the Toronto Sun and was Vice President of Finance and CFO at the Houston Post.

Stevens worked 13 years at the Toronto Sun and at the Sun’s parent company, Sun Media Corp., where he was Vice President of Corporate Operations.

A Toronto native, Stevens joined the Sun in 1988, and was named publisher in February 2000 during a newspaper war involving four Toronto dailies: the Sun, the Toronto Star, the Globe and Mail, and the National Post. Mark is a Bachelor of Commerce graduate from the University of Toronto and is a Chartered Accountant.

He worked for five years, from 1990 to 1995, at the Houston Post as Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. He returned to Toronto and was General Manager of the Toronto Sun from 1995 to 1999. He then was Vice President of Corporate Operations from 1999 to 2000 and promoted to Publisher and CEO of the Toronto Sun in 2000.

Stevens also worked as Group Publisher at Rogers Publishing in Toronto before coming to the Press-Telegram.

Stevens currently sits on the following boards: Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Long Beach Business Associates and Board of Governors of CSULB. Stevens lives in Long beach and is married to Trish, and the couple has two sons, Kyle 23 and Kevin 21.
