Craig A. Beck

Craig Beck has over 30 years of experience in municipal government. He holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management. His knowledge base spans community development, finance, land-use planning, project development, utility business operations and executive leadership. He is currently the Director of the Public Works Department for the City of Long Beach.

As the Director of Public Works, Craig oversees a department of 450 employees, with a $100 million operating budget and a $65 million capital budget. The Public Works Department operates, preserves, and enhances the City's physical infrastructure and transportation systems; provides a variety of community services including the repair, rehabilitation and general upkeep of City streets, trees, sidewalks, and structures; delivers refuse/recycling collection and street sweeping for residential and commercial customers. Craig is also responsible for delivering the City of Long Beach’s new $520 million Civic Center Complex.
